Earth editorial note
The European Commission adopted two measures on 13 July that complete the EUDR simplification package. A Delegated Act removes cattle hides, leather, and re-treaded tyres from scope while adding soluble coffee and certain palm oil derivatives. An Implementing Act establishes technical rules for the EUDR Information System, including simplified declarations for micro and small operators. The system reopened at the end of June with updated API specifications.
The regulation applies from 30 December 2026 for large and medium operators, giving companies in cattle, cocoa, coffee, palm oil, rubber, soy, and wood supply chains a fixed target for compliance. Training sessions for businesses begin at the end of July. These are the final regulatory pieces before the law takes effect.
